That's right, I'm going to try making a dating sim.

Right now I'm coming up with character designs, and DeviousBee is going to help write for the characters. Thing is, so far I have 6 romance-able characters, and I have absolutely no idea how to write romance.

THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN

If you have any input on character personalities, you want to write some dialogue for the characters, or you think another character would be beneficial, please let me know! [
on a side note: I'd like to try and keep all dialogue options similar to Bioware's system of having 3 response choices ((paragon, neutral, renegade // positive, comedic, negative )). Please keep this in mind when writing for a character~]
[please also keep in mind that by suggesting to add a character, that means dialogue will have to be written for them, so please don't just submit a bunch of character ideas, I think 8 total would be pushing my limits.]

I will have to option to select either a male or female character at the start of the game, all characters will be romance-able by either gender.

Right now, there are 3 males and 3 females.

The town consists of a restaurant, a cafe, a library, a flower shop/produce vendor, and mechanic's garage.

Here's my concept for a guy who works at the flower shop:

[[ sweet deredere boy   (✿◡‿◡) ]]

There's also a sarcastic rowdy mechanic, loveable Tsundere librarian man, and 3 sisters who operate the cafe [a shy and klutzy glasses character, a Himedere, and a rough n rowdy character].

[x] [x] [x]

[all of which were inspired by avatars I made on Gaia, oops.]

DeviousBee and I also discussed the possiblity of having a bartender in the restaurant and a waiter/waitress if you wanted to fill those spots with a suggestion.

I'm using RPG Maker XP.  IF ANYONE HAS SKILL WITH PIXEL ART AND WOULD LIKE TO SUBMIT TILESETS OR SPRITES, IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

I'll draw the character reaction images, but I'm no good at making sprites.

My ask box and submits on Tumblr are open!!
Please contact me via Tumblr if possible, as I check that more frequently.

[[Please also keep in mind that I'm just doing this for fun and if real life situations such as school or work get in the way, there might be some delays.]]

I haven't posted a journal in ages..  well, it feels like it anyway.

So, it turns out that a lot of the problems I was having with my roommates was the result of a couple of the people living there being on bad terms with the rest. At the end of my first quarter in housing, half of the apartment moved out so we were left with only four people [technically five because one of the guys' girlfriend is always there, but she's cool so it's fine.] Once the problem roommates were gone, things went surprisingly well around the apartment. The kitchen was cleaned, the fridge was cleared out, the floors swept and mopped. We re arranged the furniture in the living room and got everything reorganized and cleaned up, and it's so nice to come home to now in comparison to what I moved in to. My roommate still irritates me with little pet peeves but he's hardly ever home, and when he is he crashes on the couch instead of his bed so I almost have the room to myself most days. I got over my thing for Josh, for the most part anyway. During the mid-quarter start for this current quarter we finally got new roommates. Oddly enough, they're brothers who moved into the room that a set of brothers just moved out of. They both managed to fit right in without the slightest hitch, but the younger one always has his girlfriend over, and so far she hasn't presented herself to be cool like other guys.. she kind of gets on my nerves even though I've never really had a conversation with her... not quite sure why, she just emanates a field of annoyance.

Anyway, now it's time for video game updates. I finished Mass Effect, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Then I played Mass Effect 2 and thought the storyline was crap in comparison, but the game play was much better and the character development was good. I'll move on to ME3 when I get done playing through with Female Shepard in ME2, even though everyone says the ending for ME3 sucks [which, considering that's how I felt about ME2, doesn't bode well for me].
I started playing a game called Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. It's an interesting little open world fantasy game, much like the Elder Scrolls games but much less realistic. It's very much fantasy oriented, and seems to have a strong Celtic Mythology influence, which makes me happy.
I haven't done all too much with it, but it's simple and fun and good to pass the time.

I finally got around to changing majors. As of next quarter I'll officially be a Media Arts & Animation student. Also, I've signed up for my first elective: Comparative Anatomy. I get to learn about the similarities and differences between human and animal anatomy, as well as the relations between animals, in order to help in the invention of interesting creatures. I've been reading through the book required for the class in an attempt to put the principles into use before the class starts. I'm so excited for it.

I'm still looking for a job in the Riverside area, but luckily the new owners of the Thrift Store I used to work at let me come work for them. Now every weekend I go back to stay with my parents and work for a couple days to get some money for food and whatnot. It's not ideal because I'm only getting paid minimum wage for 10 hours a week and I spend about $40 in gas coming up to my parents then driving back, but at least I have money for food.

Oh, and I'm going to E3.
Luckily I waited long enough to change my major so that I was still a Game Art & Design student when registration for E3 came up, so I got a free pass since technically I'm in the industry. So that should be fun~ [honestly though I'm so excited to go to E3, I'm just tired right now and have lost all sense of enthusiasm at this point].

My last journal was very general, and my mind wasn't in it, so I'll go more into detail about what I skimmed over.

----Re: My Job at the Thrift Store----
The church my parents attend owned the building the thrift store was using. After some time, the church ended up being in control of the thrift store too when the old owners left the state. It wasn't making them any money, and there were too many repairs on the building for them to keep it running, so they sold the building. When the building was sold, the thrift store shut down. Unfortunately, it shut down early in November, which was way sooner than I was expecting, so I was out 2 months worth of pay. I had planned on quitting after Christmas because my move-in date for Student Housing was the first week in January. Strangely enough, the company my mom works for ended up in control of the building, and they decided to keep the thrift store there, only with their own employees. It was cheaper to just use their existing employees to run it rather than take on the 7 or 8 people who were operating it  before. It ended up being too big of a project for them to handle, and they asked me to help out for a few weeks pay since they knew me through my mom and I know how the thrift store operates. I miss working there, and am still in the process of looking for a job.

----Re: New Car & Laptop----
When I turned 21, my great-grandparents transferred over a life-insurance account they had made for me to give me the money I would need for living on my own. The account had matured a lot more than they expected and so I was able to buy myself a nice used car [A red Ford Fusion who I named Carmen], and a new latop [An blue Acer Aspire Timeline X who I named Victor]. And now the rest of the money from that account is the only thing keeping me alive as I have now moved out and still have no job...  I really need to find a job.

----Re: Changing Majors----
When I first started at The Art Institute, I sort of just rushed into things without thinking everything through. I knew that I liked video games, and that I like art, and so I signed up with the Game Art & Design major.  noticed there was a Character & Object Design course, a Background Design & Layout course, and a Conceptual Storytelling course, as well as Digital Painting as an elective. However, upon further investigation of the program outline, those are really the only classes that focus around concept art. This is why I want to switch out of that major. The rest of the classes in the major are related to 3D modeling and animation. None of those classes will help to improve my drawing skill or get me anywhere closer to becoming a Character Designer. So, my options now are to either (A)Switch to Media Arts & Animation, which focuses on 2D drawing and animation, also programs such as Flash and Illustrator, and only barely reaches into 3D, or (B)Switch into Fashion Design, so that I can take more courses on Costume Design, Fashion Illustration, and Pattern Making in the hopes that I can become either a Fashion Illustrator or Costume Designer. I loved that Costuming For Theater class to death at VVC, and I would love to design costumes or clothing, but I'm torn as to whether I would choose that over Character Design.

----Re: School Sponsored Housing----
So, there are 4 rooms per unit, and 2 people per room.  I was assigned, along with another student new to housing, to a unit which already had 3 out of the 4 rooms filled. It was awkward for me to come into an apartment where everyone already knew each other and had things established. Also, because I've never been out of my parents home before, it was all very overwhelming and I was freaking out the first week. After that, my room mates started trying to get to know me and we socialized a bit, so it helped relieve the tension I was feeling. Now I'm all settled in and I actually like it here, for the most part. The door for our floor is missing a door handle, has been for the past 2 months and nobody's doing anything about it. The electrical outlets in my room keep shorting out on me and randomly cut power to my xbox while I'm in the middle of playing something. The kitchen sink's garbage disposal is broken and now the sink is too clogged to drain properly. MY roommates have so far exhibited awful cleaning habits in the kitchen and it's always a filthy food-caked mess, but in past weeks, attempts to keep the kitchen clean have been put in order.
Overall, I enjoy the company of my roommates, even though most of them are pot-heads and enjoy stereotypical college antics such as going out to the bars and getting drunk then stumbling into the house after midnight.
The only person that I would really consider a friend is Josh, who is a video game geek which gives us common ground. He's entertaining, and we have similar interests, which makes hanging out easy and helps me to interact with the rest of the house. Unfortunately for me, I seemed to have formed a crush on him which makes things a little awkward. He's straight, he has a girlfriend [she's in New York, so it's not like she's with him, but that's beside the point] so there's no real chance for anything, but... feh.
